In this video by Peter Spain, a Trout Unlimited Chapter and the California Department of Fish & Wildife were able to collaborate to save 30 fish that were previously off limits to fishermen. The situation arose underneath the Fanny bridge dam in Tahoe City. Because of the extreme drought California was experiencing last year, there was no longer a steady flow of oxygenated water into the pool where these big fish lived, just below the dam. The CDFW enlisted the help of the local Trout Unlimited Chapter, who promptly arrived and starting hauling trout after trout out of the stagnant pool. 30 fish were caught over the course of the day, and the CDFW was able to tag each one and release them into nearby Lake Tahoe.
